Notch Brewing captures the spirit of classic European beer halls and beer gardens, with an atmosphere built for conversation and connecting. The Star Room provides the feel of a Bavarian beer hall, with room for 40 guests seated and up to 100 standing. It features high ceilings, communal tables, a wood burning stove , and A/V capabilities. Outside, the Notch Biergarten overlooks the tidal South River and Salem's Harborwalk. Notch's beer has attained international recognition, and the tap room offers 14 beers inspired by German and Czech classics, in addition to gluten-free and non-alcoholic options. An onsite kitchen offers German beer hall and street food staples, as well as allowing outside food. For ten years, Notch has been a great space for community, corporate, social events, and more.

Quick Notes

Outside Alcohol

We do not allow any outside alcohol

Refund Policy

Room rental fees are non-refundable, they can be used for a different date in the same calendar year

Set up time

Hosts are alloted no more than 30 mins before their scheduled event to set up the rented space

Outside Food

Outside food is always welcome! We do allow food trucks on site with private events

Onsite parking

The private lot in front of Notch can be used by guests on a first come first serve basis

Live Music

Live music is not allowed unless host goes with a full buyout of the taproom

Catering

  • We are happy to provide a list of local companies for outside catering and we do allow up to (1) one food truck on site for events. Please reach out to taproom manager about food truck policy.
  • Notch has a small platter menu available for all private events to order from. The cost of platters does go toward the total minimu spend for an event.

  • We do not have the permits needed for live music at our taproom, nor do we have the right acoustics (high ceilings).
  • We play Notch-approved playlists during business hours. Guests may control music only with a full buyout of the taproom.

Age Restrictions

Guests under 18 permitted

Guests under 21 permitted

  • Our taproom is 21+ after 8pm. We can make exceptions for private events but children must be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times.

House Rules

  • Please note that Notch Brewing does not host children's birthday parties. While our taproom is 21+ after 8 PM, private event attendees under the age of 21 are permitted to remain on premises after 8 PM only if continuously supervised by a parent or legal guardian. Should a guardian be addressed more than once regarding a child's disruptive behavior (e.g., running, screaming, throwing objects), the guardian and the child will be asked to vacate the premises.
  • Groups are allotted thirty (30) minutes prior to their reserved booking time for decoration and setup before guest arrival. Any additional time required for setup will be applied to the room booking duration and charged accordingly based on the set hourly rate for the date of your event.
